10 researchers at MAE among top 2% cited scientists in their fields for career or single-year impact

A total of 10 faculty members of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering are among the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists recognized either for their career-long impact or for their 2024 metrics, according to a Stanford University analysis of the Elsevier Data Repository.

The Stanford study, published Sept. 19, analyzes citations, h-index and other standardized indicators of research productivity and impact and combines them into a composite score, or c-score. Researchers are grouped into 22 broad scientific fields and 174 subfields.

Selection is based on the top 100,000 scientists worldwide ranked by their c-score — calculated both with and without self-citations — or those within the top 2% of their subfield. Separate rankings are provided for career-long impact as of 2024 and for single-year performance based on that year’s citations.

The researchers from S&T Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering included in the study are as follows.  “Career” denotes those recognized for their career-long impact in their fields, “2024” denotes those recognized for their single-year research productivity for 2024, and “both” denotes individuals recognized for both their career-long impact and research productivity for 2024.
