At the start of the spring semester, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology welcomed two faculty members to campus.
This year’s new faculty are:

Dr. Jeremiah Rittenhouse, assistant teaching professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering. Dr. Rittenhouse earned a B.S. degree in aerospace engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology in May 2020 and a PhD in aerospace engineering at the same university in December 2024. His research interests include vibrations, mechatronics, piezoelectric actuators, and lunar dust mitigation. He began working on lunar dust mitigation research in 2021 and has worked with vibrations and piezoactuators since he began undergraduate research in 2019.
Dr. Richard Scott, associate teaching professor in mechanical and aerospace engineering, focuses on teaching Cooperative Engineering Program, based at MSU. Before he came to S&T, he previously taught at Clemson University, the University of Alabama at Huntsville, and the University of Texas at Arlington. His interests include control-structure interactions, design optimization, finite element modeling techniques, mechanical design and analysis in electronics packaging, and opto-mechanical design. Dr. Scott earned his master’s and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2007 and 2018 respectively, and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design Engineering Technology from Oklahoma State University.
